Carnival team announces retro theme for the big return in 2020
Hereford River Carnival’s big return this spring will have the theme of ‘A Blast from the Past – Celebrating 100 years of Hereford at play from the Roaring 20s to the 2020s.’
After a miserable, wet winter, the Carnival Team wants to create an event where everyone can come along and have some fun by celebrating their favourite decade of the last 100 years.
Whether you are on the River our joining the fabulous Street Carnival we want people to enjoy themselves at Hereford’s most popular family feel-good event.
As ever there will be something for everyone. Music maestros Encore will be hosting the music stage on Castle Green and showcasing some of Hereford’s best choirs as well as its young talent in rock and pop. Cindy Dolloway has programmed the Dance Central stage on Bishops’ Meadow where nearly 20 of Hereford’s finest dance groups (from ballet to cheerleading) will take to the stage in a cloud of glitter.
And of course, our friends at Hereford’s (and the country’s) finest family festival, Nozstock will programme the main music stage on Bishops Meadow. It’s effectively a sneak preview of what to expect at these year’s main Nozstock event.
All this plus the Carnival of Sport, Funfair, Indie Food Village, Community Hub with its Green Arena and all the fun on the river promise an amazing event – Let’s make it a blast.
Hereford River Carnival will return this spring on Friday 8th and Saturday 9th May. The event will dovetail with the city’s celebration for VE Day of Friday 8th which is also a Bank Holiday.
